TwentyFour pleased to announce new hire

Fixed income boutique TwentyFour Asset Management is pleased to announce that they have expanded their asset backed securities team with a new hire.

John Lawler joins as an ABS Portfolio Manager and will work on a number of the Firm’s funds, including the Monument Bond Fund and TwentyFour Income Fund. John’s career spans 30 years in investment banking, where he held senior roles in ABS at RBS and Barclays, and most recently at Nomura where he was a Managing Director and Head of European ABS Sales.

The team currently see exceptional value in European ABS in today’s low yielding environment, and have seen material inflows and ongoing investor appetite from existing and new investors. John’s appointment takes the ABS team to 10 investment professionals, providing additional resources to match growth in the strategy.

Commenting on the appointment, Ben Hayward, who heads up the ABS team at TwentyFour said, “We are delighted that we are able to attract someone of John’s calibre to our team and it shows the current opportunity for people leaving the banking sector in favour of asset management. John’s 30 years’ experience on the sell-side will complement our existing skills and creates the optimal blend of portfolio management, structuring, trading, rating, issuer and quant backgrounds.”

John Lawler said, “I have known the people at TwentyFour for a long time – not only have I traded with them in recent years, but I have also worked with some members of the team in previous roles. I am delighted to now be working on the other side of the fence with such a highly regarded Firm.”
